3D Scanning Services

3D Scanning for Industrial Components and Facilities

Capture accessible physical geometry as digital surface data for component documentation, reverse engineering and dimensional comparison. The scanning approach is selected according to the object, site conditions and intended use of the data.

Select the Scanning Approach for Your Project

These are service categories describing how data capture is organised. They are not accuracy rankings.

Detailed Component Scanning

For capturing accessible surface detail on components where geometry and feature definition are important.

Portable Component Scanning

For component data capture where access, object handling and the working location influence the scanning setup.

Large-Scale Scanning

For capturing accessible spatial geometry of facilities, structures and larger objects for documentation and agreed project applications.

Scanning method and achievable measurement accuracy are assessed according to component size, surface condition, accessibility and project requirements. The agreed scope and performance requirements are confirmed before scanning.

Examples of Captured Geometry

The examples below show captured surface data from completed scanning work. Select an image to enlarge it for technical detail. These images illustrate captured geometry only; they do not establish a dimensional result, an inspection outcome or a production acceptance.

Industrial Components

What You Receive—and What Comes Next

Scan Data

Captured surface geometry provided in the agreed format. STL mesh is the format currently described for this service.

An STL mesh represents surface geometry. It is not the same as an editable engineering CAD model or a production drawing.

CAD Reconstruction

Creating or reconstructing an editable engineering model from scan data is a separate reverse-engineering scope.

Reverse Engineering

Dimensional Verification

Comparison against an agreed CAD model, drawing or acceptance criteria is a separate verification scope.

CAD Verification

CAD reconstruction, production drawings and pass/fail inspection reports are not automatically included with scanning. Deliverables and acceptance criteria are agreed for each project.

Plan the Scan Around the Component and Location

Scanning can be carried out on site at your facility or in house, depending on the object, its handling requirements and the site conditions. The suitable option is confirmed for each project.

Information That Helps Us Plan

  • Photographs of the object
  • Approximate dimensions and weight
  • Material and surface condition
  • Object location and access restrictions
  • Areas that must be captured
  • Intended use of the scan
  • Required detail or dimensional requirements
  • Required deliverables and target schedule

Practical Limitations to Consider

  • Accessible surfaces and line of sight affect coverage.
  • Deep cavities, hidden areas and obstructed surfaces may require another approach or may remain unmeasured.
  • Surface condition, reflectivity, preparation and stability can affect capture.
  • Scanning a worn or damaged component records its current condition; reconstructing its intended geometry requires separate engineering work.
  • Missing or reconstructed regions must not be presented as directly measured data.

Discuss Your Scanning Requirements

Share photographs, approximate dimensions, the object location and what you need the scan data for. Our engineering team will review the available information and propose an appropriate scanning scope.
